The storm brought 100 mile-per-hour winds to the island and also battered Scotland and northern England. Britain’s weather office issued a red warning, its highest level of alert.

More than 140,000 properties are still without power in Northern Ireland as the clean-up from Storm Éowyn continues. It brought winds of more than 90mph and, at the peak, left 30% of homes and businesses without power.
