LSU basketball needed to snap its SEC losing streak on Tuesday night, and against Arkansas, that's exactly what the Tigers did.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Cam Carter scored 27 points and LSU beat Arkansas 78-74 on Tuesday night. LSU’s Jordan Sears made a pair of free throws to end the scoring with 21 seconds left. Arkansas missed its next two shots and had its last shot blocked.

LSU’s offense was sluggish to start against Arkansas (11-6, 0-4), missing its first seven shots. Corey Chest got the Tigers on the scoreboard with a baseline drive for a two-hand dunk at the 15:37 mark of the first half.

Arkansas basketball collapsed in the second half and is now 0-4 in the SEC after a disappointing road loss to LSU.

The Razorbacks desperately needed their first SEC win to come against LSU at Pete Maravich Assembly Center on Tuesday, instead walking out with a 78-74 defeat that decimated already dwindling postseason hopes.
