Surprise wins for actresses Demi Moore and Fernanda Torres at the Globes mean that the road to the Oscars may have plenty more thrills to come.

Some will argue that these films embody everything that is “wrong” with Hollywood — that it is, allegedly, longwinded, preachy and out of touch with the “real” world — even though neither of them were really made in Hollywood and the Golden Globes are voted on by journalists based around the world who work for non -American media outlets.
