A mother out for a hike with her family has died after falling at Purgatory Chasm in Sutton, Massachusetts on Wednesday afternoon. Massachusetts State Police said they received reports of a person falling shortly after 2 p.

A 49-year-old mother of four from Topsfield fell to her death Wednesday afternoon while hiking at Purgatory Chasm State Reservation in Sutton, Massachusetts State Police said. Sutton Police Chief Thomas Calouro did not identify the victim during a briefing with reporters at the scene.

Authorities are investigating after a person, reportedly a 49-year-old woman, died in a fall at Purgatory Chasm in Sutton Wednesday.
