Tornado briefly touches down in Tehama County; new details released by NWS
The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed the first tornado of the new year touched down just eight miles northeast of Dairyville in Tehama County.

According to the NWS, a possible tornado was located near Paynes Creek, south of Shingletown. As of Friday evening, it was unclear if the funnel reached the ground. By 8:30 p.m., there had been no reports of any damage. The NWS will work with the Tehama County Sheriff's Office to continue to look for any damage in the area.
