Starting Feb. 10, those customers with unpaid tolls dating back to April will have any outstanding bills turned over to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office for collection and also a notification sent to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) for a hold on vehicle registrations.

The Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission is giving advance notice to drivers of passenger cars and commercial trucks to encourage payment of any outstanding tolls before late fees and collections resume in February.

Customers exiting through a cash/credit lane who are handed an unpaid toll notice by a toll collector for failure to pay will incur a $5 administrative fee. If the notice remains unpaid for 30 days, the customer will be mailed a second notice, and a $5 late fee will be added to each toll that remains unpaid.

The Ohio Turnpike Commission announced Friday that it will resume late fees and collections for unpaid tolls starting February 3, 2025. Fees were suspended in August 2024 to allow drivers time to adjust to the new open-road tolling system, which replaced toll booths with electronic tolling.
