After the new rules established for the operation of TikTok in the United States, a new Chinese social network is said to be taking the place of the popular video app if it shuts down in the country.

BEIJING, China (WKRC) - American TikTokers are fleeing the popular short-form video platform for another competitor that is based out of China, Xiaohongshu, or "RedNote" in English.

As Chinese users settle into their nightly routine on Xiaohongshu, they are overwhelmed by a flood of English-language content. Tens of thousands of self-proclaimed "TikTok refugees" from the United States have arrived at this Chinese app, which, even lacking an official English name, has been dubbed "Red Note" by U.S. users.

The social media app Xiaohongshu, literally “Little Red Book” but often called “RedNote,” has seen a sudden influx in American users as a TikTok ban looms.

A number of TikTok users appear to be turning to an app called RedNote — more commonly known to its majority-Chinese audience by its Chinese name, Xiaohongshu.
