An Alpha print of Black Lotus, a rare Magic: The Gathering card, has broken the record for the most expensive Magic card ever, selling for $3 million.

Magic’s most valuable card, the Black Lotus, is up for auction again. The Gem Mint 10-graded card is signed by the artist and could easily go for more than $500,000.

The Black Lotus card dates back to the first Alpha printing of Magic: The Gathering in 1993. Not only is it a rare card — only about 1,100 were printed — it’s a powerful one.
