New 25 percent levies on imported aluminum and steel materials have driven up the prices of nails, bolts, screws, and other fasteners many U.S. companies use by the millions every year.

Levies on steel and aluminum are reaching deeper in supply chains and spawning a hunt for domestic producers of some of manufacturing’s smallest components.
