Person dies from infection caused by brain-eating amoeba in South Carolina, children’s hospital says

L AKE MURRAY, S.C. (WBTV) - A person has died after they contracted an infection caused by a brain-eating amoeba at a South Carolina lake recently, officials said. Sister-station WIS confirmed through Prisma Health Children’s Hospital in Columbia on Tuesday that a patient had died after coming into contact with the Naegleria fowleri amoeba.
