Then you have the Pear Ginger Beer, which is just as strange as the Eric’s Ale in its own right. First of all, don’t expect an actual “ginger beer” in the strictest sense of the term.
This beer is brewed with the fruit of the prickly pear and has a 4.9% ABV. It has a deep amber color with barely any head and had a medium carbonation. The aroma was strong -- sweet and fruity.
Prickly Pear joins Shiner Bock, Ruby Redbird, Sea Salt & Lime, non-alcoholic Rode0 and more in the brewery's year-long rotation. The squeaky wheel really does get the Prickly Pear grease.
Shiner isn't making its Prickly Pear fruit-flavored beer in 2017, instead taking a year off from the limited-run Texas hit, which is a part of its Brewer's Pride selections.
