The current roster of emojis includes many national flags, but not state-specific ones. So, left with few other options, people have taken to using the Chilean flag emoji ( ) to signify Texas pride.
The Chilean flag is a fine design. Maybe it’s the second best flag, who knows, we’re not getting into a contest here. The important thing, though, is that it’s not the Texas flag.
The flag of Texas was designed and adopted on January 25, 1839; while Chile adopted its flag 22 years earlier on October 18, 1817. The Chilean flag emoji was released in 2015.
The five points of the Lone Star represent fortitude, loyalty, righteousness, prudence, and broadmindedness. House Resolution 75 would remind folks that there is no substitute for the Lone Star flag.
