In 40 years of commercial haddock and cod fishing, my husband had only seen one fish that looked like this. He also saw one that looked like a cross between a cod and a pollack.

The year 1968 is when the cod catch peaked, at about 800,000 metric tons, which is just an egregious amount of fish. And cod stocks began to decline after that.
