As shooting gets underway on Dune: Part 3, the adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, returning cast member Jason Momoa is prepping to come back, but not exactly as who you’d think he’d be… or looking the way you’d expect.

Jason Momoa is getting ready to get back into character for Dune: Part Three and filmed himself shaving his facial hair. In a new video posted on social media, the Aquaman actor said the last time he had shaved was for the first film.

With Dune 3 already on the 2026 movie release calendar for a December premiere, filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and the cast are getting started on filming the exciting sequel. Jason Momoa is among the returning cast, and he just filmed himself shaving his iconic beard to get ready to play Duncan Idaho again. Spoiler alert: he prefers facial hair.
