With explicit bias, individuals are aware of their prejudices and attitudes toward certain groups. In Cunningham's study, implicit biases were assessed using the Implicit Association Test, or IAT.
Pose thought-provoking questions. Encourage students to make their thinking explicit. Identify and clarify misconceptions. Probe student responses and encourage them to justify their positions.
