BIG SKY, Mont. — Excited skiers and riders got first chair on Tuesday morning so they could start queuing up to be among the first to ride Big Sky’s new Lone Peak tram to the summit.

Fifty years and four days from Big Sky Resort’s inaugural opening day in 1973, the new Lone Peak Tram began carrying guests to the resort’s 11,166-foot summit on Dec. 19.
