The portable console rocked gamers when it came out in 1989 and helped make Tetris one of the world’s most iconic games.

Everything you know and love about the Mario Kart series is nicely translated into a LEGO brick form with gliders, vehicles, shells, bananas, and, of course, Lenny to catch you if you fall.

You can even play co-operatively. It’s nice, but all of this has come at a bit of a cost. If you look at any given Lego Mario set… it doesn’t actually really resemble the Mario games.

It's going to be a physical, brick-based take on the platform adventure called Lego Super Mario, where you can build out actual levels for our now-plastic plumber to negotiate.

Super Mario will be brought to life in the physical LEGO world and new levels of challenge and styles of play will be part of the iconic LEGO experience enjoyed by generations.
