WSDOT permanently closed the Fairfax Bridge, blocking public access to key areas of Mount Rainier National Park.

The closure will indefinitely pinch recreational access to Rainier, as two of the park’s precious few entrance points have been rendered inaccessible.

Although officials aren't sure yet how long it will take to fix the 103-year-old bridge, travelers are worried that that the area could be closed for the whole summer. Until the bridge is repaired or replaced,
