The muscular branch of the radial nerve known as the posterior interosseous nerve is subject to entrapment in the proximal portion of the forearm immediately distal to the elbow.
The radial nerve passes just below the bony bit on the outside of the elbow (lateral epicondyle). The symptoms of this injury are very similar to those of tennis elbow.
