An adjustable Timney trigger will be a standard feature. It retains Remington's two-position safety. As with the previous Model 700, the bolt will open with the safety on.
Remington has for years been fighting accusations the triggers on the rifles are faulty, and that because of a design defect the Model 700 can fire inadvertently without the trigger being pulled.
Under the settlement, Remington plans to replace the triggers with "connectorless" mechanisms—a similar fix to one Walker himself proposed in 1948. Walker died in 2013 at age 101.
