In my second syllable, I hear the sound K, R, but this syllable also needs a vowel. So I'm going to put an E with that R. When I put these two word parts together, I make the word worker.
All of these words have one- and two-syllable pronunciations. What do they have in common? They all have a diphthong followed by an r or l. At least in their one-syllable versions.
