The duo, who were acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night, were a part of a Flames 3-1 loss at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings. That said, there were positives from both in the outing.

The Calgary Flames traded for Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee on Thursday night. The Flames’ deal with the Philadelphia Flyers involved four players and two draft picks. It’s a move that has been much discussed by the hockey world in the wake of the announcement.

GM Daniel Briere said the trade that sent Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee to Calgary shouldn't be viewed as a proverbial punt on 2024-25.

Daniel Brière and Co. decided to shake up the mix and move on from two young players who not too long ago were viewed as key parts of the organization's rebuild.

The Flyers hoped both Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost would become major pieces to their future. After all, Farabee had 20 goals in his second career season in a shortened campaign. Frost posted back-to-back 40+ point seasons before this year. These are players who can produce at a high level.

The Philadelphia Flyers announced they have acquired forwards Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier, as well as a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft and seventh round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft from the Calgary Flames in exchange for forwards Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost, according to General Manager, Daniel Briere.
