Despite a strong effort, the Vancouver Canucks fell 2-1 in overtime to the Washington Capitals. Conor Garland scored the only goal, while Kevin Lankinen stopped 16 of the 18 shots he faced. With the loss, the Canucks dropped to 18-12-10 on the season and 11-4-4 away from Rogers Arena.

Pierre-Luc Dubois scored his second goal of the game late in overtime, Logan Thompson made 30 saves and the Washington Capitals beat the Vancouver Canucks 2-1 on Wednesday night despite another sluggish performance.

The Vancouver Canucks announced they have assigned defenseman Filip Hronek to their AHL affiliate Abbotsford Canucks for a conditioning stint. Hronek suffered an upper-body injury in a Nov. 27 game against the Pittsburgh Penguins and underwent a lower-body procedure for an unrelated injury while recovering that forced him to miss six weeks of the season.
