A$AP Rocky rejected a plea deal from prosecutors in his Hollywood assault case Tuesday as the trial began in downtown Los Angeles, a little over two years after he was charged with opening fire on a former friend and collaborator.

Rapper A$AP Rocky has declined a prosecution plea deal of 180 days in jail and will risk spending years in prison as jury selection begins at his assault trial.

The rapper and globe-trotting fashion fixture stands accused of firing shots at a onetime friend. His long-awaited trial in the case has already provided tabloid fodder.
