A weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 4:27 p.m. for icy roads and snow until Friday at 9 a.m. for Coffee, Dale, Henry, Geneva and Houston counties.

On Thursday at 9:05 a.m. an updated cold weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 7 p.m. until Friday 9 a.m. for Coffee, Dale, Henry, Geneva and Houston counties.

The wind chills as low as 15 degrees are expected for parts of Alabama, Georgia and Florida Thursday evening into Friday morning.

With the week’s winter weather safely behind us, the Birmingham National Weather Service’s Meteorologist-in-Charge, Chris Darden, says that warmer weather lies ahead. Darden told the Valley Times-News that the higher temperatures of Friday will continue into the weekend until early next week.
