A grid with four quadrants can be used to display coordinates with positive and negative numbers. Coordinates are always written like this (2, 3). Coordinates contain two numbers.

In fourth quadrant x coordinate is positive and the y coordinate is negative. Any point can be depicted on the coordinate plane by specifying its perpendicular distances from the x and y coordinates.
