A God of War live service game has just been killed by Sony, along with another live game from another studio.

PlayStation reportedly cancels two live-service games, including a live-service God of War from Bluepoint Games.

Sony has confirmed the cancellation of two in-development live-service games, one of which was based in the tumultuous God of War universe.

Sony has cancelled two unannounced live service PlayStation games, one of which is believed to have been a God of War game. Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reports that Sony cancelled live service games in development at Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, a report which was confirmed by a Sony spokesperson.

PlayStation has canceled two live-service games, and one of them was reportedly based in the God of War universe.

Since then, Sony has launched Helldivers 2, launched and shut down Concord, canceled a The Last of Us multiplayer game, and reportedly canceled an online Spider-Man game called The Great Web. Bungie is currently prepping its extraction shooter Marathon for expanded playtests in 2025.

The two US-based Sony subsidiaries working on the now-cancelled games are not shutting down, though it's unclear if anyone will be laid off.

Questions about Sony’s live-service plans continue to mount. The company confirmed two games were canceled at Bend Studio and Bluepoint Games, responding to a report by Bloomberg that the PlayStation 5 maker had canned two projects that were part of the company’s ongoing multiplayer push.
