Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Holland’s award-winning “Green Border” offers a broad, eye-opening view of the immigrant crisis as it erupted on Poland’s border with Belarus, an ally of Russia.

"Green Border" is the new movie by the veteran director Agnieszka Holland. It tells the story of a refugee family trying to escape to Western Europe, and of the people who try to help and stop them.

“Green Border” also examines the everyday instances of cowardice and fear that perpetuate this migrant crisis. It’s the farmer who shows Leila kindness but then reports her to the cops.
