Awards contender season is in full swing at the indie box office, as A24’s “Lady Bird” soared in its four-screen LA/NY opening this weekend with the highest per screen average of the year.

The "Lady Bird" mural is meant to pay tribute to the film's Sacramento setting, and to director Greta Gerwig's Sacramento roots. The mural is located at 16th and I Street and was completed by March 6.
