Amari, a 7-year old Masai giraffe at the Franklin Park Zoo, gave birth there to a baby giraffe on July 14. The calf stands already at 6-feet tall and weighs close to 184 pounds.

Conservation groups have appealed to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to enhance the protection of Somali Giraffes and ostriches in Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties.
