Venus Williams is continuing her comeback to prominence on the WTA Tour as she will compete in doubles in the U.S. Open.

Venus Williams competed at a tournament for the first time in more than a year -- and in doubles for the first time in nearly three -- and emerged with a victory.

Venus Williams and Reilly Opelka were one of 14 teams -- six via wild card -- announced Tuesday by the USTA for its mixed doubles event at the US Open in August.
