Birmingham police identified the victim as Damian Dawson. He was 47. The deadly shots rang out about 5:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Ninth Court West. That area is near the College Hills community.

Upon arrival, officers found 46-year-old Damian Dawson lying in the driveway of a home and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UAB Hospital where he died soon after arriving.
