Driving E90 and E92 versions of the M3 is a 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 known as the S65 that was good for 414 hp at 8,300 rpm and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque at 3,900 rpm when it was new.

Noteworthy is the E9x generation M3 produced from 2008 to 2014. The E90/E92/E93 M3 is unique for being the only variant in its lineage to have the BMW S65 4.0-liter V8 engine.
