CBI has 15 DNA scientists in training who will start coming online to process kits in the coming months and year. The training process for DNA scientists is one and a half to two years.

Additionally, in the same press release, Schaefer announced he will retire as director on May 2. He said this retirement was always planned after he reached his 30-year anniversary with CBI.
