When the Retreat Fire ignited a year ago east of Rimrock Lake, it burned much of the Oak Creek Wildlife Area, known for its sagebrush-dotted ridges, conifer forests and elk.

A 115-year-old canal in the Yakima-Tieton Irrigation District that was severely damaged during the Rimrock Retreat Fire last year is now at imminent risk of failure.
