The Aurora Police Department has a full time Narcotics Section, tasked with investigating the manufacturing, distribution, sale and use of illegal drugs, prostitution, the illegal sale of firearms, loan sharking, and racketeering.

On Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Aurora Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its 12th opportunity in six years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

(August 11) The Aurora Police Department, The U.S. Marshal’s Service (USMS), The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) and the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, partnered for a two-week operation called “Operation Restore.”

On Saturday, October 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aurora will join communities across the country for the DEA’s National Drug Takeback Day. In 2023, communities throughout the US collectively disposed 632 tons of unwanted medications, helping to reduce the risk of misuse while increasing community safety.
