The 12mpg on my old truck was the gateway into owning hybrids as the payment/gas/insurance on a Gen 2 Prius was lower than the fuel cost of my truck going to work everyday. Now it’s the Maverick and Corolla hybrid (~22 Prius drivetrain) in the driveway.

I would absolutely replace the Gen 3 and the Excursion with a Prius Truck with the following: Shift on the fly transmission with a setting for towing. The torque of the electric engine should be a benefit, not a liability. A lower expected mileage of 30 mpg under load is expected, with a return to 50 mpg when not towing.

Oct 22, 2018 · The Prius's steering stuff would need to be welded solid so that it can't turn. It probably wouldn't work or fit but it's a neat thought. Same concept could be applied to a pickup truck, and you could put the engine in the bed of the truck. Why stop there, why not have TWO prius drivetrains! haha lol]

Feb 26, 2022 · Not to mention the performance loss from this lift. The prius already has only like 105 lb-ft of torque which is why they use tiny 15" wheels, which have a radius of .625 ft. It looks like these now have 35" wheels. So if we do the math, 105 lb-ft/0.625 ft=168 lbs of force exerted on the road as designed by toyota. 35" wheels have a radius of 1 ...

Sep 22, 2022 · As a prius driver who never saw himself as a prius driver, I can relate. Little guy handles everything I throw at it, including 8ft lumber. I have two old work trucks for stuff that really requires a truck, but daily driving a beater prius and getting 45mpg makes my wallet pretty happy.
